About

Dunbar Group Site offers a secluded group camping experience within Indiana Dunes National Park, perched on a grassy hillside overlooking the Great Marsh and Lake Michigan. The site accommodates up to 30 campers in 10 tents and sits less than 500 feet from Dunbar Beach, providing easy access to the Lake Michigan shoreline. The campsite features a fire ring and picnic tables in a designated mowed area. The site requires a 200-foot hike-in from the Dunbar Beach parking lot, climbing a steep hill with uneven terrain. Seasonal flush toilets are available in the parking lot below, but there is no potable water at the site. Campers must pack out all garbage; the nearest dumpsters are at Dunewood Campground. The parking lot cannot accommodate RVs or trailers as there is no space to turn around. The Beverly Shores South Shore Railroad station is located a quarter mile north on Broadway Avenue, offering passenger service to Chicago and South Bend. A gas station and convenience store are also nearby at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Broadway Avenue.

Directions

From Broadway and Lake Front Drive in Beverly Shores, head west on Lake Front Drive. At the stop sign at Dunbar Ave, turn south. The parking lot is at the top of the hill on the west side of the road.
