About
Dunbar Group Site offers a scenic tent camping experience in Indiana Dunes National Park, situated on a hilltop overlooking both Lake Michigan and the Great Marsh. This single group campsite accommodates up to 30 people with space for 10 tents in an open, mowed grass area. The site requires a short 200-foot walk uphill from the parking area, making it a true walk-in camping experience with uneven terrain. Dunbar Beach is approximately 0.2 miles from the campsite, providing easy access to Lake Michigan's southern shore. The campground is located in the town of Beverly Shores, with a convenience store and gas station just a quarter mile north at U.S. Highway 12 and Broadway Avenue. The Beverly Shores South Shore Railroad station, offering passenger service to Chicago and South Bend, is also a quarter mile from the site. The campsite features one fire ring where all fires must be contained, but campers must bring their own firewood and are prohibited from cutting or damaging trees. All tents must remain in the designated open mowed area. Parking and seasonal flush restrooms are located in the Dunbar Beach parking lot at the bottom of the hill. Note that RVs and trailers cannot access this campground due to parking lot size restrictions, with vehicle length limited to under 20 feet. All garbage must be packed out, though dumpsters are available at Dunewood Campground for disposal.
