About
Potato Creek State Park sits in north-central Indiana about 12 miles southwest of South Bend, offering a substantial camping operation with 372 total sites. The main family electric campground provides 258 sites with 30-amp and 50-amp electric service, while the horsemen's campground adds another 67 electric sites for equestrian campers. Tent-only sites and youth tent areas provide options for those seeking a more traditional experience. All standard sites include fire rings and picnic tables, with modern bath houses featuring showers and flush toilets located throughout the campground loops. The park centers around the 327-acre Worster Lake, which provides swimming beach access via an ADA-accessible sidewalk, boat rentals, and fishing opportunities with a fish cleaning station on site. A convenience store serves campers' basic needs. Recreation options extend well beyond the water, with 3.3 miles of paved bicycle trails, 7.4 miles of mountain bike trails, and hiking through diverse landscapes including old fields, mature woodlands, restored prairies, and wetlands. The campground operates year-round with heated comfort stations in Loop C and the Horsemen's Campground available through November 30, while vault toilets remain accessible throughout winter. Pull-through sites accommodate RVs up to 63 feet. Reservations are strongly recommended given the park's popularity, available through Indiana State Parks' ReserveAmerica system.
