About
Indiana Dunes State Park campground sits within 2,182 acres of unique Hoosier landscape along Lake Michigan's southern shore in Porter County. The campground features 140 electric sites with 50 amp service, four tent-only sites, three youth tent sites, and six shelter rentals, accommodating a variety of camping styles. All sites are reservable through the Indiana State Parks system. The campground operates year-round, making it one of the few Midwest campgrounds to offer camping in all four seasons. Modern amenities include comfort stations with flush toilets, shower houses, and a dump station. Most sites feature back-in parking with driveways ranging from 35 to 55 feet, accommodating larger RVs and trailers. The campground includes a camp store for supplies and firewood. Located less than a mile from the beach and within walking distance of the South Shore Rail Station, campers enjoy easy access to over three miles of Lake Michigan shoreline backed by towering sand dunes reaching nearly 200 feet high. The park offers extensive hiking trails including the challenging 3 Dune Challenge, a nature center open daily, and diverse habitats supporting exceptional plant and bird diversity. The beautifully restored Dunes Pavilion provides dining and event space. Swimming is available seasonally with lifeguards present during summer months.
