About

Dunewood Campground provides a forested basecamp for exploring Indiana Dunes National Park's 15 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, 50 miles of trails, and diverse ecosystems including dunes, wetlands, prairies, and oak savannas. The 67-site campground is divided into two loops with 54 conventional drive-in sites accommodating RVs and tents, and 13 walk-in tent-only sites. Four sites (15, 30, 41, and 55) are wheelchair accessible. All sites include fire rings for campfires. Each loop features centrally located modern restrooms with free hot and cold showers, multiple potable water spigots, and a seasonal RV dump station. A convenience store and gas station are located a quarter mile north at the intersection of US Highway 12 and Broadway Avenue. Lake View Beach is 1.5 miles north of the campground. Campers should avoid parking in the adjacent Town of Beverly Shores beach lot, which is strictly enforced. The park offers year-round recreational opportunities from beach swimming and hiking in summer to cross-country skiing in winter. Nearby attractions include the Heron Rookery, Cowles Bog National Natural Landmark, Chellberg Farm, and the historic Bailly Homestead.
