Wasatch Mountain State Park
Open — Currently open for winter dry camping in the Soldier Hollow loops. Water to campsites was shut off November 1st and will not be restored until May 1st. The main Pine Creek Campground loops are closed for the winter season to accommodate holiday events. Campers must bring their own water and facilities as restrooms are not open in winter camping areas. Full hookups remain available in Soldier Hollow loops during winter.
About
Wasatch Mountain State Park's Pine Creek Campground sits in the scenic Heber Valley near Midway, Utah, offering 122 developed campsites across several loops. The Cottonwood loop features both full hookup sites and sites with water and electric only. The Mahogany loop provides all full hookup sites, while Oak Hollow offers water and electric hookups. During winter, the Soldier Hollow loops remain open for dry camping with full hookups available. The park features modern amenities including flush restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, and drinking water during the operating season. The campground provides access to two popular 18-hole golf courses, miles of hiking and biking trails, and an extensive network of ATV and horseback riding paths. Soldier Hollow, located at the park's south end, served as the venue for biathlon and cross-country skiing events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and remains open year-round for both summer and winter activities. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with wild turkeys, moose, and elk commonly spotted, especially during seasonal migrations. The primitive Little Deer Creek campground offers additional dispersed camping options during summer months for off-road enthusiasts.
Directions
From Midway, take Utah State Route 222 (east Main Street) to reach the main park entrance and campground. The park can also be accessed via Pine Canyon Road from Guardsman Pass Road or Utah State Route 224, though these routes may be closed during winter and early spring.
