About

Cattle Camp Campground is one of two developed campgrounds along the Upper McCloud River in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Located at 3,700 feet elevation, the campground features 27 sites including 6 double sites suitable for large families or small groups. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-resistant food locker. The campground provides potable water from faucets and six vault toilets. It accommodates both tents and larger RVs or trailers, though specific length limits are not posted. The area is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Visitors must physically arrive to claim and pay for a site. The Upper McCloud River is the primary attraction, offering swimming, fishing, and 15 miles of riverside trail. Campers are asked not to dam the river with rocks to maintain natural flow and prevent algae growth in swimming holes during low water periods.
