Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory...in effect until noon PST Tuesday. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: - Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. - Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. - People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. - Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems. - Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke if possible. Alcohol Prohibitions

This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.

Aquatic Invasive Species

This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.

Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.

Fremont-Winema National Forest 14 Day Stay Limit

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited upon all lands, roads, and trails administered by the Fremont-Winema National Forest as described in this order.

About

Deadhorse Lake Campground is located in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, approximately one hour 20 minutes southwest of Paisley, Oregon. Situated at 7,372 feet elevation on a 31-acre high-mountain lake, the campground offers nine tent and trailer sites along with seven group campsites. All sites feature picnic tables and fire grills, with some larger sites positioned further from the lakeshore. The lake features grassy and pebble beaches and is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Recreational opportunities include fishing, swimming, and boating with electric motors only under a 5 mph speed limit. The campground provides a boat launch and separate day use area. A hand pump provides potable water, and vault toilets are available. Weekends and holidays typically see the campground reach capacity. The nearby Lakes Trail System offers hiking opportunities, with the Deadhorse Trailhead adjacent to the campground providing access to Dead Horse Rim Trail and Lakes Loop Trail. All camping is first-come, first-served at $6 per night for single sites, with an additional $2 per night fee for extra vehicles. The campground operates seasonally and is accessed via forest service roads that may require high-clearance vehicles.

Directions

From Paisley, Oregon, follow Highway 31 north toward Silver Lake and turn left on County Highway 2-08/Mill Street, continuing left on Forest Service Road 33. At its junction with Forest Service Road 28, turn right. Follow Forest Service Road 28, then turn left on Forest Service Road 033 and continue to the campground.
