About
Corral Creek Campground sits at the base of the Gearhart Mountain Wilderness, approximately 45 minutes northeast of Bly, Oregon. This small, free campground provides six campsites in a rustic lodgepole pine and meadow setting. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with one vault toilet serving the campground. There is no potable water, so visitors must pack in their own supply. The campground serves as an excellent basecamp for exploring the Gearhart Mountain Wilderness trail system. The Lookout Rock trailhead is about half a mile away, offering access to popular destinations including an out-and-back hike to the Palisades (approximately three miles round trip) or a longer backpacking trip to Blue Lake (about 18 miles round trip). The creek flowing along the campground edge provides fishing opportunities when water levels are sufficient. Besides wilderness users and day hikers, this campground is popular with hunters during hunting season. June and July bring heavy mosquito activity, so insect repellent is essential. The remote location and primitive facilities make this campground ideal for those seeking solitude and wilderness access rather than developed amenities.
