About
Currier Springs Horse Camp sits in an open meadow along Winter Rim in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, about an hour west of Paisley, Oregon. This free, primitive horse camp features four campsites equipped with campfire rings and picnic tables. The corral, built by the Back Country Horsemen, has four stalls and can accommodate four to eight horses. A historic water trough constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps provides water for horses. From Currier Springs, riders can access the Fremont National Recreation Trail for miles of backcountry riding along the top of Winter Ridge, a 2,000-foot fault block rim with spectacular views. The trail heads west toward Hager Mountain with vistas of Summer Lake, and it's approximately 29 miles to Antler Horse Camp. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out camp with no potable water or restroom facilities.
