About

Currier Guard Station is a historic Forest Service cabin nestled among fir, pine, and aspen in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Built in 1933 as an outstation for the Paisley Ranger District, it housed fire prevention and suppression crews until the early 1990s. Today it serves as a rustic cabin rental offering a secluded getaway surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty. The 450 square foot cabin contains two rooms with log-built bunk beds, a double bed, and rustic decor including deer antler door handles on the outhouse. Inside amenities include a propane heating stove, propane cook stove, refrigerator, sink, lanterns, dishes, cooking gear, and flatware. Outside, guests can relax at the picnic table or around the fire ring. Horse corrals and flat grassy tent camping space are available. The guard station sits one mile north of the Sycan Wild and Scenic River, offering excellent fly fishing for brook, rainbow, brown, and bull trout. The area provides opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. A pastoral meadow behind the cabin attracts elk and deer. Note: early summer brings heavy mosquito activity.
