About
Marster Spring Campground sits along the banks of the Chewaucan River about 20 minutes south of Paisley, Oregon, in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. This rustic campground features 10 widely spaced campsites that offer privacy amid a mixed stand of alder, juniper, and ponderosa pines, with sagebrush throughout. The Chewaucan River maintains consistent water levels year-round, creating excellent habitat for fish, and anglers can cast their line for catch-and-release bull trout. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire grate. The campground provides two vault toilets. During the main season, a hand pump provides access to potable water, though water availability may be limited during the reduced services period. There are no garbage receptacles, so visitors must pack out all trash. The Chewaucan Crossing trailhead is just 1.5 miles up the road, accessible by vehicle or on foot along the river. The campground's light usage and remote location make it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude and a true backcountry experience in south-central Oregon.
Directions
From Paisley, take Highway 31 north toward Silver Lake. Turn left on County Highway 2-08 (Mill Street) and continue left on Forest Service Road 33. Follow FS Road 33 approximately 7 miles to the campground entrance.
