About
Currant Creek Guard Station is a historic duplex cabin situated next to the beautiful Currant Creek Reservoir in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at an elevation of 8,000 feet. The facility has been converted into two separate units, each with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and living area. Unit A features one bedroom with a queen bed, while Unit B has two bedrooms with a queen bed and bunk beds. Combined, the units can accommodate up to 16 people, with each unit sleeping 8.
Both units come equipped with running water, flush toilets, showers, propane heat, and fully equipped kitchens with modern appliances and cookware. Each unit includes a living space with comfortable seating. Guests must bring their own bedding, drinking water, and be prepared to pack out all trash as this is a pack-in, pack-out facility.
The reservoir provides excellent fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout, and is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and boating. The area features numerous trails for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking, including a scenic loop around the reservoir. Race Track Creek Trailhead and Coal Mine Hollow offer additional opportunities for off-road vehicle trails, hiking, and fishing. The surrounding landscape showcases aspen, fir, and lodgepole pine trees with abundant summer wildflowers, and wildlife including deer and elk are frequently spotted. Guests must check in with camp hosts at the nearby Currant Creek Campground.
