About

Cunard Lake Campground offers a tranquil, rustic camping experience in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. This designated quiet zone features 33 campsites spread along the southwest corner of the 43-acre Cunard Lake, which is restricted to electric motors only with slow-no-wake speeds, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere. The campground provides basic amenities including two vault toilet buildings, two hand pumps for drinking water, and trash and recycling facilities at the entrance. A boat launch with adjacent parking is located near the campground entrance. The lake and the creek flowing from Cunard Lake into Sweeney Lake offer excellent opportunities for canoe exploration in a serene setting. The campground includes several walk-to, tent-only sites (1101, 1120-1123) where campers hike a short distance from their vehicles to their campsite, as well as one double campsite (1110-1111) that can accommodate up to 12 people and two camping units. All campsites require advance reservations through the Wisconsin DNR system.
