About

Carrol Lake Campground occupies a scenic position on the south shore of Carrol Lake, a 352-acre waterbody dotted with wooded islands in Wisconsin's Northwoods. Located 3 miles east of Minocqua-Woodruff and 20 miles west of Eagle River, the campground provides traditional rustic camping within the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. The 19 non-electric campsites split between 12 drive-in sites for tents and RVs/trailers and 7 walk-in tent-only sites. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and parking spur. A double site (106-107) accommodates up to 12 people and two camping units. Site 112 features an extended spur suitable for larger RVs. Facilities include two vault toilet buildings, two hand pumps for drinking water, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. The lake offers quality fishing for panfish and gamefish, accessible via the paved boat ramp with trailer parking. An ADA-accessible fishing pier, small swimming beach within the campground, and a larger sandy beach at the nearby Clear Lake Picnic Area provide additional recreation. The surrounding state forest encompasses over 236,000 acres with extensive trail systems for hiking, biking, and paddling.
