About

Carrol Lake Campground is a traditional rustic-style campground located in the southern portion of Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The campground contains 19 sites (numbered 101-119) situated on the south-central part of 352-acre Carrol Lake, which is well known for good fishing for both panfish and game fish. The campground provides basic amenities including two vault toilet buildings, two hand pumps for drinking water, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. The campground features an ADA-accessible fishing pier, boat launch, and picnic area with adjacent parking. A small swimming area is located inside the campground, and a large sandy beach for swimming can be found across the road at the Clear Lake Picnic area. Sites 106-107 form a double campsite that can accommodate up to 12 people and two camping units. Sites 101-103, 110-111, and 118-119 are walk-to, tent-only sites where campers must walk a short distance from their vehicles. All campsites are reservable through the Wisconsin State Park System, with reservations required before setting up. The campground provides a quieter, more traditional camping experience with wider spacing between sites compared to modern campgrounds. A state forest entrance fee is required for all visitors.
