About

Nestled in the Little River valley of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, Coolwater Campground provides a peaceful escape for those seeking a quiet forest experience. The small campground offers seven campsites on a first-come, first-served basis, making it ideal for spontaneous weekend getaways. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring, though campers should note there is no potable water available and must filter or treat water from nearby sources. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Grotto Falls is a short distance away, and the nearby Taft and Lookout mountains offer hiking opportunities. The Little River provides fishing and swimming for those looking to cool off during warmer months. With moderate usage levels, Coolwater strikes a balance between accessibility and solitude. Operated by a concessionaire under permit from the Umpqua National Forest, the campground maintains basic amenities including vault toilets. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet during the day and confined at night. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and the maximum length of stay is 14 days.
