Millpond Recreation Site

Closed

Closed until further notice due to wildfire damage. A restoration project decision record was issued in December 2025, but no reopening date has been announced.

About

Millpond Recreation Site sits along the clear waters of Rock Creek, about 22 miles east of Roseburg in Douglas County, Oregon. The campground occupies a lush forested setting that opens into spacious grassy areas, making it suitable for families with children and dogs. Twelve campsites are arranged in a loop configuration, with Site 1 being hike-in only. Facilities include vault restrooms and drinking water. The day-use area features a designated swimming hole with a sandy beach, picnic tables, and grills. Adjacent to the pavilion are horseshoe pits and a playground. The mile-long Sawmill Trail leads east through the site of an old lumber mill with interpretive panels, while a shorter nature trail runs along the west end of the campground. The nearby North Umpqua River, designated a National Wild and Scenic River in 1988, offers kayaking, whitewater rafting, and fishing just five miles away. The 79-mile North Umpqua Trail provides extensive hiking and mountain biking opportunities, and the Rock Creek Fish Hatchery allows visitors to view salmon and steelhead.
