About
Lone Pine Group Campground is located on the western edge of the Cascade Mountains along Rock Creek, approximately 22 miles east of Roseburg, Oregon. The campground sits at the historic site of the Rock Creek sawmill that operated from the 1930s through the 1950s. In 2020, the Archie Creek Fire heavily impacted the area, resulting in significant changes to the landscape and a multi-year closure for restoration. The facility reopened in summer 2025 for individual site camping after extensive recovery efforts. The campground features 11 separate campsites arranged in a loop configuration, with amenities including a pavilion, ballfield, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. Rock Creek provides opportunities for swimming in summer months and observing salmon and steelhead migrations in spring and fall. While Rock Creek itself is closed to fishing to protect native fish populations, excellent angling opportunities exist just five miles away on the North Umpqua River. The location serves as an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Umpqua National Forest and nearby attractions. Visitors can enjoy whitewater rafting and kayaking on the North Umpqua River, hiking the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail, visiting the Rock Creek Fish Hatchery, or taking a scenic drive along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway. Crater Lake National Park is within reasonable driving distance for day trips.
