About

Millpond Pavilion is beautifully situated along Rock Creek, which flows into the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River in Douglas County, Oregon. Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains at an elevation of 1,170 feet, the pavilion sits just west of the Umpqua National Forest in a lush region of Douglas fir, western red cedar, and sugar pine trees. The pavilion features a large picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 200 people, making it ideal for weddings, family reunions, and other group events. Modern conveniences include a long serving counter, stone fireplace, sink, two barbecue grills, and multiple electrical outlets. The reservation includes access to a flat grassy field perfect for games and activities, as well as adjacent horseshoe pits and a playground. Check-in time is 10:00 AM and groups must vacate by one-half hour after sunset. Overnight camping at the pavilion is prohibited, though nearby Millpond Campground and Lone Pine Group Campground offer camping options. From the pavilion, visitors can explore a 1-mile interpretive trail that passes through the site of an old lumber mill. The North Umpqua River, just five miles away, offers kayaking, whitewater rafting, and fishing opportunities. The scenic 79-mile North Umpqua Trail provides excellent mountain biking and hiking, and the nearby Rock Creek Fish Hatchery allows visitors to view salmon and steelhead.

Directions

From Roseburg, travel east on Highway 138 for 22 miles. Turn left (north) on Rock Creek Road and proceed 5 miles. The pavilion is on the right.
