About

Susan Creek Campground is well known for its beautiful setting along the emerald-green waters of the North Umpqua Wild and Scenic River on the western edge of the Cascade Mountains. Nestled under the canopy of a mature forest, the 29 campsites are surrounded by majestic fir, cedar, and hemlock trees up to seven feet in diameter. The campground is built on a paved loop with individual parking spurs at each site. The campground offers excellent access to outdoor recreation. In spring and fall, salmon and steelhead trout come upriver to spawn, providing good fishing opportunities limited to fly-fishing only. Well-developed trails wind through tall trees and lush understory, offering views of resident blacktail deer and soaring osprey. The Susan Creek Falls trail leads to a stunning waterfall, while the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail is accessible for hiking and mountain biking. The river also attracts swimmers, whitewater rafters, and kayakers. Amenities include flush restrooms with showers, multiple water spigots throughout the campground, an amphitheater with educational programs on weekend evenings in July and August, nature trails, and an emergency phone. Each campsite features a fire ring and picnic table. The campground is centrally located along the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway with easy access to mountain peaks, forested canyons, and alpine lakes.
