About

Contorta Point Group Campground is located on the south shore of Crescent Lake in Deschutes National Forest, offering scenic beauty and recreational opportunities in the Cascades region. The campground features two group sites that can accommodate either two groups of 40 people each or one combined group of 80, with approximately 10 vehicles per site. Each site is within walking distance of the lakeshore. Crescent Lake is a prime destination for boating, fishing, and swimming, with brilliant blue-green water and sandy beaches nestled in a glacier basin east of the Cascade Mountain Range. The Summit Lake Trail is popular among hikers and mountain bikers, offering excellent views of Diamond Peak across the lake. A nearby resort on Crescent Lake provides lodging and a general store for campers. Amenities are minimal at this campground. Vault toilets are provided, and sites are equipped with tables. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. Drinking water and electrical hookups are not available, so campers must bring their own water. The surrounding forest of lodgepole pine, mountain hemlock, fir, and spruce provides habitat for deer, native fish, and migratory birds. Maximum site spur length is 35 feet.

Directions

From Highway 58 at Crescent Lake Junction, follow Forest Road 60 for 9.9 miles southwest. Travel 1 mile west on Forest Road 280 to the campground entrance gate.
