About

Located in Clear Creek Canyon and easily accessed from Exit 17 on Interstate 70, Castle Rock Campground offers 30 RV and tent sites in a scenic canyon setting. Operated under permit by Fremont Indian State Park, the campground sits approximately half a mile from the park's visitor center and museum. A small creek runs through the campground, and the area features cottonwood, pinion, juniper, and Ponderosa pine trees. The campground is particularly popular with ATV enthusiasts, as it provides direct access to the extensive Paiute ATV trail system. An ATV trail leaves directly from the northwest corner of the campground, connecting to the main Paiute ATV trail in Dry Canyon and continuing south to Big Johns Flat and Circleville. Another trail heads north to the Pahvant Range and Fillmore. Note that Big Johns Flat and Circleville are only accessible from late July through early October due to snow drifts at higher elevations. ATVs are permitted in the campground but must stay on designated routes. The campground offers flush toilets and drinking water from a hand pump. Hiking trails are also available in the area. Sites are offered at $15 for single family camping, with an additional $10 for extra vehicles. Double family sites are available for $30. The campground operates seasonally from mid-April through October, with reservations available through Utah State Parks.

Directions

From Richfield, travel south on Main Street (US-89) for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn right onto 1300 S and go west for 1.1 miles. Turn left onto I-70 southbound and travel for approximately 20 miles. Take Exit 17 and turn left, passing over I-70 onto FR-478. Continue on FR-478 for 1.5 miles to the campground entrance.
