About

Carr Creek State Park offers 39 spacious campsites along Carr Fork Lake, a 750-acre reservoir in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. The campground is considered one of the best in the region, featuring well-maintained back-in sites ranging from 30 to 60 feet in length, each equipped with water and electric hookups. The park is home to the longest sand beach in the Kentucky State Parks system at 480 feet. Established in 1997, the park surrounds visitors with the natural beauty of tree-covered hills and extensive woodlands. The unusual marsh environment for this region provides habitat for diverse wildlife including wood duck, great blue heron, ruffed grouse, wild turkey, and various warblers. The lake offers excellent bass, crappie, and walleye fishing along miles of shoreline. The full-service marina on KY 15 near the campground provides boating and fishing supplies, covered and open boat slips, and rentals for fishing boats and pontoons. Campground facilities include comfort stations with showers, a playground, horseshoe pits, a dump station, and an amphitheater. The area is rich in pioneer history, with settlements dating back to the 1770s, and is located in Knott County, named for Governor James Proctor Knott.
