About

Trace Branch Campground is a US Army Corps of Engineers facility on Buckhorn Lake in Leslie County, Kentucky. Situated in the Cumberland Plateau, the campground provides access to a lake fed by the Kentucky River, known for producing some of the best muskie fishing in the region due to seclusion from fishing pressure and boat traffic. The campground offers 28 standard electric campsites, most with waterfront access, plus one group shelter. Sites feature 50-amp electric service and water hookups on paved driveways accommodating vehicles up to 30 feet. Facilities include a shower house, flush toilets, dump station, playground, horseshoe pits, laundry, and a fishing area. With comfortable water temperatures, Buckhorn Lake supports swimming, water skiing, and boating throughout the season. Hikers can explore trails in the surrounding area, with Daniel Boone National Forest, Natural Bridge State Resort Park, and Red River Gorge Geological Area all within reach.
