About

Bailey Canyon Campground is a quiet, primitive campground on the shores of Ruth Lake, a 1,200-acre reservoir in the forested mountains of northern California. The campground features four waterfront sites along with additional sites shaded by tall oaks, ponderosa pines, and Douglas fir trees in a mixed conifer forest with understory vegetation. The campground was unaffected by the 2020 August Complex fire. A trail system connects Bailey Canyon to the neighboring Fir Cove Campground, contouring along the lake edge and providing access for swimmers and anglers. Ruth Lake offers rainbow trout and bass fishing, with a marina and boat ramps nearby. All watercraft must be inspected for aquatic invasive species before entering the lake. Bailey Canyon operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and trash/recycling service are provided. A 14-day stay limit applies.
