About

Cages Bend Campground is an Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the scenic shores of Old Hickory Lake, a 22,500-acre reservoir fed by the Cumberland River. Just over 30 minutes northeast of Nashville, the campground provides a convenient base for exploring Music City while enjoying lakeside recreation. The campground features 43 campsites, all equipped with electric and water hookups, and four sites meet ADA accessibility standards. Water recreation dominates the area's activities, with swimming and sailing popular pastimes on the expansive lake. Anglers will find exceptional bank and boat fishing opportunities for catfish, crappie, and bass from the shoreline, two fishing docks (one inside the campground and one by the boat ramp), or via the onsite boat ramp. The 97-mile-long reservoir and its woodland habitat support abundant wildlife, making the area excellent for birding and wildlife photography, particularly for viewing white-tailed deer, migratory songbirds, and waterfowl. Campground amenities include shower facilities, laundry, a playground for families, and a group picnic shelter. All sites feature picnic tables and fire rings. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis with check-in at 3:00 PM and checkout at noon. Nearby attractions include additional fishing piers at Rockland, Sanders Ferry, Shutes Branch, and Bledsoe Creek State Park, as well as the Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's historic home.

Directions

From Nashville, travel north on I-65 and take TN-386/Vietnam Veterans Blvd. Continue to exit 12, Big Station Camp Blvd. Turn right onto Big Station Camp Blvd. Continue straight across Nashville Pike onto Cages Bend Road. Take Cages Bend Road to Benders Ferry Road. The recreation area will be ahead on the left.
