Lone Branch is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers day-use recreation area located on Old Hickory Lake in Wilson County, Tennessee, just beyond the Nashville metropolitan area. The facility is situated on a 22,500-acre reservoir created by the Old Hickory Lock and Dam on the Cumberland River. The recreation area offers two group picnic shelters, each equipped with electric hookups and grills, accommodating up to 50 guests per shelter. The grounds feature plenty of mature trees providing shade, grassy open areas for recreation, and a public boat ramp for lake access. Boating and fishing are the primary activities, with anglers frequently catching black bass, crappie, and catfish. The facility provides a peaceful Tennessee getaway with convenient access to Nashville's attractions, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and Andrew Jackson's historic home, The Hermitage. Visitors should note that parking spaces are limited and cannot be reserved in advance. The area is managed by the Nashville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is available on a first-come, first-served basis for general day use, with group shelters available for reservation through Recreation.gov.

Directions

From Nashville, take I-40 East to exit 229-B/Golden Bear Gateway. Continue straight on Golden Bear Gateway for approximately 9 miles. Entrance to the recreation area will be on your left just past Cedar Creek Club. Golden Bear Gateway turns into Benders Ferry Road at the US-70/Lebanon Road intersection.
