Power Plant Road and Rockland Recreation Area sustained substantial damage from the tornado on December 9, 2023. These areas will remain closed to the public due to the damage and devastation caused by the tornado. All Rockland picnic shelters will not be available for reservation in 2026. The team is working to coordinate funding and contract cleanup efforts, but it will likely be months before the area can fully re-open. Visitors are encouraged to utilize other local parks and USACE recreation areas during this time.
