About
Old Hickory Beach is a day-use recreation area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the shores of Old Hickory Lake. The facility features a sandy swimming beach, playground, boat ramps, and picnic facilities. A large group shelter that can accommodate up to 100 guests is available for reservation and includes grills, electrical hookups (30 amp), and picnic tables. The 22,500-acre Old Hickory Lake was created by the Old Hickory Lock and Dam on the Cumberland River and is named after President Andrew Jackson. Popular activities include swimming, sailing, and fishing for catfish, crappie, and bass. The nearby 1.1-mile Old Hickory Lake Nature Trail offers three loops covering varying terrain. This is a day-use area only and does not offer overnight camping. Visitors seeking overnight accommodations should check nearby Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Old Hickory Lake such as Cedar Creek, Cages Bend, or Rockland Recreation Area.
