About

Cabin Creek Campground is located in the West Mountains of the Payette National Forest along the Middle Fork of the Weiser River. The campground is divided into two distinct loops totaling 18 campsites. The north loop contains 12 standard campsites suitable for general camping, while the south loop features six equestrian-themed campsites designed specifically for visitors with horses or pack animals. These equestrian sites include ample space for horse trailers, hitching posts, and a corral, though they're available to any camper on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Recreation opportunities include fishing in the Middle Fork of the Weiser River, hiking and biking on the adjacent Council Mountain Trail #198, which was extended to the campground in 2024, and OHV riding on the Bear Gap ATV Trail #209 (up to 50 inches width, open to motorized use May 15 through September 30). Additional motorized and non-motorized trails are accessible along Middle Fork Weiser River Road. The area is popular for hunting in season as well. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only at $10 per night. Visitors must arrive in person to claim and pay for their site, with payment possible via the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature where cellular service permits. The campground is equipped with vault toilets and picnic tables at each site. Pets are welcome throughout the campground. Be aware that public lands in this area are interspersed with private property, so exercise caution to avoid trespassing.
