About

Evergreen Campground sits at approximately 4,000 feet elevation in a dense Douglas fir and spruce forest along the Weiser River in Payette National Forest. Despite its proximity to Highway 95, the large trees and dense vegetation provide seclusion and privacy. The river flows between the campsites and the highway, offering excellent rainbow trout fishing. The campground has 12 sites with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and grills. Vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump are provided. Five sites are reservable through Recreation.gov while the remaining seven are first-come, first-served. Access roads are gravel but well-maintained. The popular Weiser River Trail is accessible directly from the campground for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The campground is often used as a stopover between Council and New Meadows but offers enough amenities and recreation for a longer stay.

Directions

From Council, Idaho, follow Highway 95 north approximately 14 miles to the campground on the east side of the highway. From New Meadows, travel 12 miles southwest on Highway 95. Access into the site is paved; internal roads are gravel with paved site pads.
