About

French Creek Campground is located next to scenic Lake Cascade in west-central Idaho, near the town of Donnelly at an elevation of 4,850 feet. The campground is divided into two sections: sites 1-8 sit on the east side of West Mountain Road closer to the lakeshore with beautiful lake views, while sites 9-21 are on the west side on a hillside above the lake with partial views through the trees. Some hillside sites have stairs from the parking area to the campsite. A forest of mixed conifers covers the campground, providing ample shade. Thimbleberry and huckleberry plants are abundant throughout the upper reaches. Wildlife is plentiful around the lake, including waterfowl, songbirds, pelicans, and bald eagles. Lake Cascade offers excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing. A boat ramp is located near the campground. Anglers can cast for rainbow trout, coho salmon, smallmouth bass, and perch. Many hiking and biking trails are accessible from the area.
