About

Bois Brule Campground is the larger of two campgrounds in Brule River State Forest, featuring 22 sites in a scenic setting beneath towering pines along the Bois Brule River. The campground includes 17 pull-in sites and 5 walk-in sites, with each site equipped with a table and fire ring. A popular destination in summer, the campground provides direct access to a canoe landing in the picnic area and is a gateway to 44 miles of the legendary Bois Brule River, renowned for world-class trout fishing and paddling. The campground offers essential amenities including a hand pump for drinking water and centrally located vault toilets. One designated wheelchair-accessible site is available. All sites accommodate tents and RVs or trailers, though RV campers should scout ahead as roadways are narrow in places. There are no electric hookups, and cell phone service is limited. The Stoney Hill Nature Trail is located directly across Ranger Road from the campground. Each campsite is limited to six occupants and two vehicles, with no limit on the number of tents. Firewood can be gathered on-site from dead and down wood, purchased from vendors within 10 miles, or brought in if DATCP certified. The campground operates on a reservation system through the Wisconsin DNR, making it essential to book ahead during peak season.
