About
Berryman Campground is a small, remote campground located at the site of a historic Civilian Conservation Corps camp from 1937. The campground provides a quiet setting with just 8 individual campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, lantern post, and fire ring. A picnic shelter and day use area are also available. The campground serves as the trailhead for the renowned 24-mile Berryman Trail, which traverses scenic Ozark countryside, winding through timbered stands of oak, pine, and bottomland hardwood, and climbing switchback fashion from low bottoms to high cherty ridges. The western section of the trail doubles as part of the Courtois Section of the Ozark Trail. The site offers a measure of solitude and quiet for campers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and hikers. Facilities are basic and include vault toilets and accessible picnic tables. No potable water is available, and campers must bring their own supply. The campground accommodates RVs up to 21 feet in length on paved driveways. Horse camping is permitted with designated tie-ups outside the campsites. Foundation remnants from the original CCC camp can still be found throughout the area, adding historical interest to this remote recreation site.
