About
Baker Dam Campground is a BLM recreation area developed in the early 1980s and expanded in 1994, located at the base of the Pine Valley Mountains. The campground serves as a base camp for enjoying Baker Dam Reservoir and adjacent public lands. The reservoir is known for cold water game fish and is annually stocked with rainbow and brown trout by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. Migratory and year-round birds enjoy the reservoir's open water and the Santa Clara River's riparian habitat, with opportunities to view eagles, gray flycatchers, herons, and other waterfowl along the Overlook Trails.
The campground features graded gravel access roads, with each campsite equipped with RV or vehicle parking and a tent pad. Accessible vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits with grills are available. Trash collection is provided, but water and electrical hookups are not available. OHV use is not permitted within the recreation area, but OHVs may travel on adjacent BLM lands and Dixie National Forest on existing roads and trails. The area provides cooler temperatures with nearby Pine Valley Mountains reaching elevations over 6,500 feet, offering additional opportunities for fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting on surrounding public lands.
