Closed — Closed indefinitely due to damage from the Forsyth Fire in June 2025. The entire Pine Valley Recreation Area, including Oak Grove Campground, will remain closed at least through the 2026 season for public safety and rehabilitation work.

About
Oak Grove Campground sits at approximately 6,500 feet elevation in the Pine Mountains section of Dixie National Forest, northeast of St. George. Accessed via Oak Grove Canyon Road (Forest Road 032), a gravel road from Leeds, the campground offers a rustic mountain experience away from more crowded recreation areas. The surrounding landscape features scrub oak, mountain vistas, and wildlife including wild turkeys. Built by Civilian Conservation Corps crews from the nearby Leeds camp between 1933 and 1942, the campground historically featured amenities like a tennis court, wading pool, and playground. Today it provides a more basic camping experience with typical Forest Service amenities. The area offers access to the Oak Grove Trail and natural springs, with opportunities for hiking, including routes to Signal Peak. The campground is part of the Pine Valley Recreation Area, which encompasses various recreation sites in this corner of Dixie National Forest. The location provides cooler temperatures than the valley below and serves as a base for exploring the less-visited northern approaches to the Pine Valley area.
Directions
From St. George, take I-15 north for 13.5 miles to the Leeds/Silver Reef exit. Turn west toward Silver Reef and follow Silver Reef Road as it turns to dirt and enters Dixie National Forest. Continue on Oak Grove Canyon Road (Forest Road 032) for approximately 10 miles to reach the campground.
