About

Oak Grove Campground is a small, primitive camping area located in Dixie National Forest on the southern slopes of the Pine Valley Mountains. The campground features 8 intimate sites set among stands of old-growth ponderosa pine, creating a peaceful atmosphere away from the more developed recreation areas. Facilities are minimal: a single vault toilet serves the campground, but there is no potable water and campers must pack out all trash. Access is via Oak Grove Road from the Leeds/Silver Reef exit off I-15, traveling west through Silver Reef as the road turns to gravel and enters national forest land. The access road is steep and narrow, limiting use to smaller vehicles, tents, and truck campers. Large RVs and travel trailers should not attempt this route. The campground serves as the starting point for Oak Grove Trail #31030, a hiking route that climbs the steeper south face of the Pine Valley Mountains. The surrounding landscape features a mix of pine and oak forest with diverse wildlife. Nearby attractions include the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve and Snow Canyon State Park.

Directions

From St. George, take I-15 north approximately 13.5 miles to the Leeds/Silver Reef exit. Turn west toward Silver Reef and continue on Silver Reef Road as it becomes Oak Grove Road, turns to gravel, and enters Dixie National Forest. The campground is at the end of the road. High-clearance vehicles recommended.
