About

Pine Valley Recreation Area is a forested retreat in Utah's Dixie National Forest, situated at 6,900 feet in the scenic Pine Valley Mountains. The area offers ponderosa pine and oak shade with views of mountain mahogany, juniper, and sagebrush landscapes. Six family campgrounds serve different needs: Dean Gardner, Equestrian, and Yellow Pine accept reservations, while Mitt Moody, Crackfoot, and Ebenezer Bryce operate first-come, first-served. Group camping and day-use areas accommodate larger gatherings. Recreation centers on Pine Valley Reservoir, where shoreline fishing for rainbow trout is popular (flotation devices prohibited). Trails ranging from 2 to 35 miles serve hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers, with direct access to Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness. The Equestrian Campground caters specifically to visitors with horses. The recreation area is approximately 75 miles from Zion National Park, making it a convenient base for exploring southern Utah's parks while enjoying cooler mountain temperatures.
