About

Pine Valley Recreation Area is located in the scenic Pine Valley Mountains of southwestern Utah at an elevation of 6,900 feet, offering visitors a cool mountain retreat from the southern desert heat. The recreation area encompasses six family campgrounds (Dean Gardner, Equestrian, Yellow Pine, Mitt Moody, Crackfoot, and Ebenezer Bryce), two overnight group areas at Effie Beckstrom, and four day-use group sites at Thomas Forsyth, plus an amphitheater. The campground features a beautiful forest of ponderosa pine and oak providing partial shade, with mountain mahogany, juniper, and sagebrush dotting the landscape. Family campsites include picnic tables, fire rings with grills, utility tables, tent pads, and concrete site pads. The Thomas Forsyth day-use area offers amenities such as volleyball courts and horseshoe pits with paved parking areas. Recreation opportunities abound with an extensive trail network ranging from 2 to 35 miles for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Pine Valley Reservoir is restricted to shoreline fishing for rainbow trout; flotation devices, swimming, boating, and water activities are not permitted. The adjacent Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness offers additional backcountry exploration. Zion National Park is approximately 1.5 hours away.
