About

Equestrian Campground sits in a ponderosa pine, pinyon, and juniper setting about three-quarters of a mile from Pine Valley Reservoir, north of the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness. The campground is designed specifically for horse camping with one large four-way corral and four smaller corrals near select campsites. The facility includes 11 single campsites accommodating up to 8 people each, 4 double sites for up to 16 people, 2 single tent-only sites, 1 double tent-only site, and 1 multi-site, all with picnic tables, fire pits, and tent pads. The location provides access to numerous trails in the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness including Equestrian Trail, Forsyth Canyon Trail, Browns Trail, Whipple Trail, Pine Valley Canal Trail, and Santa Clara River Trail. Anglers can fish the Santa Clara River and Pine Valley Reservoir. The campground offers vault toilets and drinking water available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is no garbage service, so visitors must pack out all trash. The campground normally operates from early May through late September with a 14-day maximum stay limit.

From St. George, go north on Highway 18 to Central. Turn right on Forest Highway 35 to Pine Valley. Turn left on Main Street and continue 3 miles to the Pine Valley Recreation Area.
