About
Upper Salt Creek Campground was formerly a camping area located along the Sacramento River Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near Lakehead, California. The campground was accessed via Gilman Road off Interstate 5. The U.S. Forest Service has permanently closed this site, and it is no longer maintained or available for public camping use. No amenities, water, or restroom facilities are available. The closure status is permanent with no plans for reopening. Other camping options remain available in the Shasta Lake area, including nearby dispersed camping areas and developed campgrounds along the lake. The Lower Salt Creek Dispersed Area and other campgrounds along the Sacramento Arm of Shasta Lake continue to operate seasonally.
