About
Oak Grove Campground is located in the Shasta Unit of the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area within Shasta-Trinity National Forest in northern California. This campground has been permanently closed for many years and was officially decommissioned by the U.S. Forest Service in April 2024. The decommissioning project involved the removal of two restroom buildings, though concrete foundations and septic systems were left in place. The site is no longer maintained as a developed recreation facility and camping is not permitted at this location. Visitors to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest can find alternative camping opportunities at other established campgrounds throughout the forest, which is the largest national forest in California spanning 2.2 million acres.
Directions
From Interstate 15, take Highway 79 East. The campground is on the north side of the highway, across from the fire station. From Temecula, take State Route 79 south for 24.1 miles and turn left at the campground sign.
