Visitors of all abilities have a multitude of options for exploring the Jenny Lake area. Take a boat ride, set up a picnic on the lakeshore, go for a wildlife-spotting walk, or cycle along Teton Park Road using the multi-use pathway that extends from South Jenny Lake all the way to the town of Jackson.

Jenny Lake Campground

Open from early May through late September 2026. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov and can be booked on a 6-month rolling basis. Maximum stay is 7 nights. No RVs, trailers, generators, or vehicles over 8 feet high or 14 feet long. Bear country food storage requirements in effect.

**1. You are in bear country when camping at Jenny Lake Campground. Please put all food, coolers, storage containers, utensils, and anything that has an odor. in a closed, locked vehicle or bear box provided, with the doors closed properly, when not directly supervising the use of these items.** **2. There is a limit of 1 vehicle OR 2 motorcycles AT ALL TIMES PER SITE. No towable trailers of any size are allowed in Jenny Campground, and no generators are allowed in Jenny Campground.** **3. Please consider Colter Bay Campground or Gros Ventre Campground for any group site needs. Jenny Campground has car restrictions and only one bathroom and is not conducive for group camping. Thank you.**

Tucked away at the base of the Teton Mountain Range, Jenny Lake Campground sits within walking distance of the eastern shore of Jenny Lake and offers sweeping views of Teewinot Mountain, Mount St. John, and into Cascade Canyon. This tent-only campground has two loops with 51 individual campsites, three ADA-compliant sites, and 10 hiker-bicycler sites. The campground straddles a glacial moraine covered with an open forest of lodgepole pine, subalpine fir, and Douglas fir. Several popular trails begin at Jenny Lake, including loops around the lake, Hidden Falls, Inspiration Point, and access to Cascade Canyon for longer backcountry trips. The multi-use pathway extends from South Jenny Lake to Jackson, perfect for cycling. The Jenny Lake Store is a five-minute walk from the campground and offers firewood, ice, clothing, souvenirs, and snacks. The Jenny Lake area is home to black and grizzly bears, moose, and deer. Strict food storage rules apply, with all food and scented items required in bear boxes or locked vehicles. No generators, trailers, or vehicles over 8 feet high or 14 feet long are permitted.

Directions

From Jackson, head north on US 26/89/191 and turn left at Moose Junction. Continue 8 miles north on Teton Park Road to South Jenny Lake Junction. Turn left into the developed area. From Yellowstone, head south on US 89/191/287 and turn right at Jackson Lake Junction. Continue 12 miles south to South Jenny Lake Junction and turn right.

Several popular trails begin at Jenny Lake. Hikers can loop the lake, visit Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, or travel into the backcountry via Cascade Canyon. Longer and more challenging trails like Lake Solitude and Hurricane Pass are also accessible from this area.
Jenny Lake Campground is a tent-only campground. Trailers, campers, and pop-up roof tents are not permitted.

The Jenny Lake Visitor Center makes its home inside the historic Harrison Crandall Studio. The original building was built in the 1920's, and recent renovations were completed in 2019.
