Lake Dardanelle State Park spans two areas on a 34,300-acre reservoir along the Arkansas River, situated between the Ouachita Mountains to the south and the Ozarks to the north. The main Russellville site features 57 campsites including 16 Class AAA sites with water, 50-amp electric, and sewer, 14 Class AA sites with water, 30-amp electric, and sewer, and 27 Class B sites with water and 30-amp electric. The Dardanelle area offers 18 additional Class B sites. The park's Russellville area includes a Sport Fishing Weigh-in Pavilion, fishing pier, swimming beach, boardwalk, trail, and a visitor center with five aquariums. The park is renowned for world-class bass fishing and hosts annual tournaments that draw anglers from across the region. Park interpreters lead year-round programs including guided hikes, nature talks, kayaking, lake tours, and evening presentations. As a certified Trail of Tears National Historic Site, the visitor center features exhibits documenting the removal story and the historic Norristown ferry crossing that played a vital role between 1831 and 1859 as Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee, Seminole, and Chickasaw groups traveled through the area. Recreational opportunities include boating with available boat ramps, kayak and paddleboard rentals, swimming at the beach, wildlife viewing, and hiking the Meadowbrook Self-Guided Trail. The park offers group meeting facilities, pavilions, and the Lakeview Room for special events. With its combination of modern camping amenities, exceptional fishing access, and historical significance, Lake Dardanelle State Park provides diverse experiences for both outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs.
