About

Shoal Bay campground occupies a wooded peninsula on the Shoal Bay arm of Lake Dardanelle, a 40,000-acre reservoir on the Arkansas River between the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests. The mature tree canopy provides welcome shade during the warm camping season. Each site includes a paved parking spur, picnic table, fire ring, and grill. The lake is known for excellent fishing, producing white bass, largemouth bass, crappie, bream, and large catfish. A boat ramp provides direct lake access for anglers and water sports enthusiasts. A designated swimming area offers a safe place to cool off, and the playground serves families with children. Nearby attractions include the Bridge Rock Trail, which winds along rugged slopes overlooking Shoal Creek narrows, and the Bona Dea Trails and Sanctuary with 86 acres of wetlands and 6 miles of trails. The Dardanelle Visitor Center features interpretive exhibits on the river valley's history from early Native American inhabitants to present day.
