About

Moccasin Gap Campground is located in the Ozark National Forest and is rated as one of the best horse trail destinations in Arkansas, frequently hosting competitive rides. The campground offers 17 camping spurs in a primitive setting surrounded by mixed hardwood and pine forests. The trail system consists of four loop trails that converge into each other, providing varied riding experiences through scenic terrain with numerous streams and small waterfalls. While primarily developed for equestrian use, the trails are multi-use and open to mountain bikers, hikers, and Off Highway Vehicles on designated portions. High clearance vehicles can access certain trail sections. This is a rustic camping experience with vault toilets and a pavilion available for group use. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers can pay on-site using the Recreation.gov mobile app Scan and Pay feature or with cash/check. Day use parking is available for both horse trailers and OHV vehicles.
