About
Spring Lake Recreation Area is located in the Arkansas River Valley on the western edge of the Ozark National Forest in Yell County. This scenic 82-acre lake is surrounded by beautiful hardwood forest known for its sandstone bluffs, flowing streams, and wildflowers that bloom year-round. The campground features 13 family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring, and lantern pole.
The recreation area is popular for water sports including swimming at the designated beach, fishing, and no-wake boating. Camping trailers are allowed but no special facilities or hookups are available. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Visitors can pay by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app where available, though cash or check is recommended.
Nearby attractions include Mt. Magazine State Park, Mt. Nebo State Park, Cove Lake, and the Mt. Magazine Scenic Byway. The campground is accessible via gravel Forest Service Road 1602, which is negotiable by camping trailers.
Directions
Take Arkansas 27 southwest from Dardanelle for 9 miles, then right (west) on Arkansas 307 for 3 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel) continuing 4 miles to Spring Lake. Or take Arkansas 307 north from Belleville for 4 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel), continue on 1602 for 3 miles.
