Temporarily closed for repairs. The Spring Lake Dam pedestrian walkway is also closed for safety reasons. When open, the campground operates seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend on a first-come, first-served basis.
About
Spring Lake Recreation Area is nestled in the Arkansas River Valley on the western edge of the Ozark National Forest, surrounded by beautiful hardwood forests, sandstone bluffs, and wildflowers that bloom year-round. The 82-acre lake serves as the centerpiece of this recreation area, offering swimming from a designated beach and fishing opportunities under no-wake boating restrictions.
The campground provides 13 family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring, and lantern pole. Facilities include flush toilets, a bathhouse with showers, and pavilions available for rent. Camping trailers are permitted though no hookups or dump stations are available. Note that potable water is not available on-site; campers must bring their own drinking water.
Nearby attractions include Cove Lake, Mount Magazine State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, Sorghum Hollow Horse Camp, the Mount Magazine Scenic Byway, Huckleberry Horse Trail, and the Petit Jean River.
Directions
Take Arkansas 27 southwest from Dardanelle for 9 miles, then right (west) on Arkansas 307 for 3 miles to Forest Service Road 1602 (gravel) continuing 4 miles to Spring Lake. Alternatively, take Arkansas 307 north from Belleville for 4 miles to Forest Service Road 1602, then continue 3 miles.
