About

Long Pool Recreation Area is situated along Big Piney Creek, a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. The area takes its name from a large, deep natural pool surrounded by massive boulders and towering rock bluffs, creating a stunning landscape for swimming and relaxation. The crystal-clear waters of Big Piney Creek provide opportunities for swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking, while the surrounding forests offer hiking trails and scenic beauty. The campground features 40 campsites across three loops. Loop C contains 19 sites with water and electrical hookups that can accommodate large RVs and operates year-round. The other loops provide non-hookup sites for a more primitive camping experience. The recreation area is located within the Piney Creeks Wildlife Management Area, offering hunting opportunities for various game species during open seasons. The area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Various amenities include flush toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, picnic facilities, and trash services. The area is popular for families seeking swimming opportunities in the natural pool, anglers pursuing creek fishing, and paddlers floating the scenic river corridor. Nearby Long Pool Falls provides an additional hiking destination for visitors.

From Dover, take Arkansas 7 north for 6 miles, turn left on Arkansas 164 and go 3 miles, turn right on County Road 14 and go 3 miles, then turn left on County Road 15 and go 2 miles.
