Montauk State Park Shelters

Open — The shelters are currently open and available for reservation or first-come, first-served use. Reservations can be made 30 days to 12 months in advance online, or by calling the park for dates within 30 days.

About

Located at the headwaters of the Current River in Missouri's Ozark region, Montauk State Park's two picnic shelters provide excellent facilities for group gatherings and special events. The New Mill Shelter is the larger option, accommodating up to 70 guests with modern amenities including electricity and ADA accessibility. The historic CCC Stone Shelter offers a more intimate setting for groups of up to 30 people. Both shelters come equipped with picnic tables, outdoor grills, and convenient access to playgrounds, water fountains, and restroom facilities. The shelters can be reserved 30 days to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Parks reservation system, with rates of $45 per day for the New Mill Shelter and $35 per day for the CCC Stone Shelter. When not reserved, both shelters are available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The park's location at the springs feeding the Current River creates a scenic backdrop, and visitors can combine their shelter use with fishing for rainbow trout, hiking on park trails, or exploring the historic 1896 gristmill.
