Montauk State Park Shelters

Open

These are day-use picnic shelters, not overnight camping facilities. Shelters can be reserved online 30 days to 12 months in advance. For reservations less than 30 days out, contact the park directly at 573-548-2201.

About

Located at the headwaters of the Current River in the Missouri Ozarks, Montauk State Park's shelters provide covered gathering spaces for families and groups. The New Mill Shelter is the larger of the two, accommodating up to 70 guests at $45 per day, and offers accessibility features for visitors with disabilities. The historic CCC Stone Shelter holds roughly 30 guests at $35 per day. Both shelters include picnic tables, outdoor grills, water fountains, hydrants, and access to nearby restroom facilities. They serve as day-use facilities for picnics, reunions, and special gatherings rather than overnight camping. The park itself is renowned for trout fishing in the spring-fed Current River and offers separate campground loops with electric and basic sites for those seeking overnight stays.
