Closed — Closed for the season. The campground operates April 1 through October 31. Some sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, while others are available first-come, first-served. Maximum stay is 14 days within any 30-day period.

About

Yavapai Campground is located in the scenic Granite Basin Recreation Area at an elevation of 5,600 feet, seven miles northwest of downtown Prescott. The 22-site campground is designed to integrate with the natural landscape of dramatic granite rock formations, ponderosa pine, limber pine, oak, and manzanita. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, trailers, and tents, with most campsites offering a degree of privacy despite the compact layout. The Granite Basin Recreation Area provides numerous outdoor activities including fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish, and sunfish at nearby Granite Basin Lake, as well as canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Several connector and loop trails reside in close proximity to the campground, allowing for multiple modes of travel. The prominent Granite Mountain Wilderness Area rises to the northwest, reaching 6,874 feet and offering rugged topography for backpacking and exploration. The campground features composting toilets, drinking water from hand pumps, garbage service, and campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and grills. Additional attractions in the area include five day-use areas with picnic facilities, Thumb Butte to the south, and Alto Pit OHV Campground. The mild weather and cool pine forest make this a popular destination for people of all age groups.

From the corner of Iron Springs Road and Williamson Valley Road in Prescott, travel northwest on Iron Springs Road for approximately 3 miles. Turn right onto Granite Basin Road and continue for 2.1 miles. Yavapai Campground is on the left.
