About

Alto Pit OHV Campground is purpose-built for motorized recreation, located roughly 7 miles northwest of Prescott in the Prescott National Forest. The 400-acre site features two former gravel pits now repurposed for OHV use, with approximately 20 miles of trails ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced terrain. The campground sits at 6,200 feet elevation at the foot of Granite Mountain Wilderness Area, surrounded by ponderosa pine, limber pine, oak, and manzanita. The campground has 10 single-occupancy sites and one double site, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. Three vault restrooms and two trash dumpsters serve the area. Staging ramps are available for loading and unloading vehicles. There is no potable water, RV hookups, or dump station. Maximum stay is 14 days within any 30-day period. The trail system accommodates ATVs and dirt bikes 50 inches or less in width. Nearby Granite Basin Recreation Area offers additional recreation including fishing and hiking at Granite Basin Lake.
