About
Apgar Group Sites are part of Glacier National Park's largest campground, situated in a dense forest on the southern tip of Lake McDonald near the park's west entrance. The five group sites (E06-E10) accommodate groups of 9-24 people and require advance reservations through Recreation.gov. Each site includes multiple tent pads of varying sizes, fire rings, and picnic tables with back-in access on gravel driveways up to 97 feet long. The campground offers flush toilets and potable water, with nightly ranger programs at the nearby amphitheater. Lake McDonald is a short walk away, providing opportunities for boating, fishing for cutthroat and rainbow trout, and scenic sunset views. The paved Apgar Bike Path connects campers to Apgar Village where additional services are available. Strict food storage regulations apply due to bear activity. All food, coolers, and scented items must be stored in hard-sided vehicles or bear-proof lockers when not in immediate use. Firewood must be certified heat-treated; collecting firewood in the park is prohibited. Pets are allowed but must remain on a leash no longer than six feet.
