About

Emery Bay Campground is situated along the east shore of the massive Hungry Horse Reservoir in the Flathead National Forest, surrounded by towering Rocky Mountain peaks less than 30 miles from the Continental Divide. The campground offers 26 sites positioned on a scenic bluff overlooking the 27,750-acre reservoir and Emery Bay, with 16 sites available for reservation and 10 as first-come, first-served. The reservoir, created by one of the highest dams in the United States, provides exceptional recreation opportunities. A native boat ramp accommodates smaller watercraft for exploring the vast waters, while anglers can expect catches of cutthroat trout and other varieties. Swimming is popular in the summer months, and the surrounding wilderness offers hiking, exploring, and big game hunting opportunities. Located just 15 miles southwest of the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park, Emery Bay serves as an excellent base camp for visitors exploring the region. The campground is accessed via East Side Reservoir Road, approximately 6 miles south of Martin City. Amenities include vault toilets, hand-pump drinking water, and bear-proof containers at some sites. Visitors should plan to pack out all trash as this is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility.

Directions

From Martin City, Montana, turn off Highway 2 and continue on the main road through the town heading south. This road becomes East Side Reservoir Road. Continue for about 6 miles into the campground.
